The brewer founded the Carlsberg Laboratory in 1875. This laboratory soon wrote itself into the annals of industrial history as one of the most groundbreaking research establishments of all time. Here, outstanding scientists conduct intensive research into areas related brewing based on J.C. Jacobsen’s conviction that the process can be improved through science. The Carlsberg Foundation is one of the world’s oldest industrial foundations. Here, ambitious brewing enterprise blossoms side by side with research and support for excellent basic research. The Carlsberg Foundation still holds the controlling interest in Carlsberg A/S, and the Chair of the Foundation is the Deputy Chair of the Supervisory Board of Carlsberg A/S.
